SAFW Spring/Summer 2018 Showcase

On Saturday 14 April 2018, the John Craig team were out in full Muratti gear to witness what young South African designers have in store for Spring/Summer 2018. Sandton City was abuzz with fashionistas, the who’s who of the fashion world and an eager audience who were ready to experience the upcoming trends. Front row as only fitting for a Muratti Man, they waited in anticipation as the Bakusasa collection graced the ramp.

The Bakusasa Collective are four young, upcoming men’s fashion designers namely Ellen Madie, Bayanda Khathini, Otiz Seflo, The Watermelon Social Club & Bi Patel.

Noticeable on the runway were bold hues of mustard, yellow and orange.

Monochrome (predominantly black and white) was a popular trend and we can expect to see strong blends of all these colours dominating the upcoming season.

Bomber jackets as well as the tailor-fitted formal jackets were front and centre. Block cut-outs in the tailored jackets further emphasised the blend of hard and soft fabrics or fabric blocking as it is known.

Be sure to keep an eye out on John Craig social media pages to see how we interpret these trends in Spring 2018.
